I'll be heading East to New York and New Jersey soon. This time, I am traveling without kiddos. It will be a nice break to be "one-with-myself". I like it that way every once in awhile.
The first time I went to NY I was 19 and didn't know diddlysquat about traveling. So that trip was kind of a waste. Then fast forward, 20+ years....I traveled back as an adult...with a plan...and some money...and alone. That trip was AMAZING. I enjoyed every moment. I had an opportunity to feel like a real grown-up and I loved leaving my responsibilities to someone else for the first time in 15+ years.
The next time I traveled to NY was with my two teen daughters. I wanted to show them EVERYTHING I had experienced and enjoy the moments with THEM! And we did. We had an amazing trip...we even saw "Wicked" the Broadway Musical and that was a highlight!
Now, I'm returning back to my vibrant playground. Alone, again. And I can't wait.
So here is the question:
WHAT SHALL I DO?
WHERE SHALL I GO?
WHAT SHOULD I SEE?
I will be in Brooklyn for a few days and will be lucky enough to visit the Brooklyn Museum and see the Andy Warhol Exhibition. I'm very excited about that.
I was also considering Coney Island if the weather isn't too brutal. I would really love to sit and take pictures there.
And I know NY/NJ has an infinite P L E T H O R A of things to do and see....but I'm having a brain block!
HELLLP! What would you want to see and do if you were me?
I want it to be
C R E A T I V E !
I am not sure if anyone is even reading this blog anymore! Haha! If you are, then thank you! I promise to try to update more often! Recently I added some "buttons" to the end of my posts that allow you to reblog, mark as a favorite, TWEET or even "LIKE" on your Facebook page! I hope these come in handy!
Here are some pics of what I've been up to lately! I'll be heading to the East Coast again soon...New York is my new playground. I enjoy it SO!
Fresh whipping cream and berries on a summer afternoon by the pool. All the while, making pretty wire-wrapped jewerly out of my favorite glass beads!
I loved this pic of my other niece, Brittany and her friend Brandon. Lovin the tatts too!
Ooooh! Pretty tea blossoms in my favorite Hello Kitty glass!
This is my sweet niece, Annabella standing at our front door! The lighting was perfect! I used my 50mm fixed lens and natural lighting. Some perking up was done on PS7.
Fun, photo, WALLART! This is my dining room. I made some fun wallart out of my digi pics! Here is another wall:
What a busy month! Aside from working, I traveled back to New York recently. I am an addict. YUP. And I don't want to recover or go to rehab. NO, NO, NO.
Here is Round #1 of pics! Enjoy!

So, my sister had knee surgery. And the busy mom of four needed something to keep her little ones occupied. Hmmm....What to do, what to do?
AHA! I had just purchased this magazine:
A new publication from my favorite publishers, Stampington &Company (check out their entire line of magazines, here) .
My table was full of fabric and scraps that I had been pouring over the previous days...and the kids were told to pick out their faves.
Process: to sandwich a piece of batting between 2 fabric squares...approximately 8x10. Free sew in a random circular pattern to stablize the piece. (All directions are in this issue of Art Quilting Studio.)
The kids did not do the sewing part, but they did "design" their piece. They were also allowed to pick out any iron-ons and iron themselves! My nephew took some waterproof/permanent black ink and stamped images on his block. These were fun, quick and very satisfying for the kids! Plus, Mom took home 3 awesome pieces of art that will be timeless keepsakes!
and finally, the one I have begun to work on! It's my first one....so it has a lot of work left to be done on it! The flaming heart was created by me on my Gocco machine (silk screening process).I plan on handsewing a blanket stitch, adding buttons (to cover puckers and mistakes) and other embellishments. Will post an "after" picture soon!
Mom, nurse, artist, friend, teacher....and more to come!
